FAQ

Can I leave my bike at the shop for repair?

No. We are primarily an educational space, and we do not currently offer drop-off bike repair.

If you plan to work on a major bike project (one that may take several sessions), please plan to be able to transport your project to and from our shop.

Do you work on e-bikes?

Yes. We will work on the mechanical components of all e-bikes, regardless of their brand. Additionally, we are able to diagnose electrical issues and recommend solutions.

If you are bringing your e-bike in for repair, be able to remove your battery before entering the shop. We have a complementary storing space for bike batteries outside of the front doors.

Why aren’t you open more frequently?

Our Community Bike Shop is open limited hours because Bike Walk Tompkins is a small nonprofit with a broad mission.

In addition to running the shop, our team is actively engaged in bike education, street safety advocacy, and community programming throughout the week. We balance these efforts with the resources we have, and Open Shop hours reflect our commitment to both maintaining this hands-on space and advancing safer, more accessible transportation across Ithaca.
